  Guitarras Camps S.L.

The company was born in 1945, when Juan Camps Coll, who had studied music and loved the guitar, decided to transform his father Florencio Camps Planas’ bodywork shop in Banyoles into a guitar workshop.

Practically self-taught, Camps followed the advice of musician and luthier friends in developing his own guitar making method. In 1968, he moved the by-now ample facilities and staff to the workshop in Porqueres.

His sons Jordi and Javier, the firm’s current managers, entered the family business 1976. They continued their father’s research efforts in acoustic technology, and produced Spain’s first electro-acoustic guitars in 1977. They later developed the thin body, “NAC model” cut-away electro-acoustics (which have served as a reference for many guitar builders and are currently enjoying a rise in international popularity, played by musicians around the world).

Expansion work in 1999 allowed the company to increase production. The company is currently building guitars for many musical styles, from classical to flamenco, as well as electro-acoustic guitars, with over 30 different models marketed both in the EEC and overseas.
